My first crush
My first crush was named Keisha. I don't remember her last name, unfortunately... but I have tried to look her up on FB, to no avail. But just in case she ever tries to Google me, let me put in some keywords here so make the search a bit easier.
hilton head island, grace community church, awanas, noah, adam, tall, red team, 5th grade
We'll see what happens. But basically I met her at AWANA's. We were both on the red team, and she was the second tallest, so that meant we were always standing next to each other. One thing led to another, and before we knew it, we were holding hands in secret! Scandalize, I know!
I know she had a little sister, and that she lived with foster parents for a brief period who attended the church. She had Latin roots, and a great smile.
But the point of this blog is not to talk about MY first crush (contrary to what the title says), but instead to discuss a friend request I received on FB earlier this morning.
Someone named Jordan U. showed up in my notification window. I clicked through and saw she was from Hilton Head Island, and was friends with one of my elementary school friends, Brandi Jane Wedgeworth. I figured she went to school with me at some point, but I really couldn't place her. I sent her this message after accepting the request:
Hey Jordan... what grades did you go to Hilton Head Christian Academy? I was only there for 1st though 3rd grade, then went to Hilton Head High School for 4th and 5th. I remember Brandi Jane, but I have to be honest, I can't remember a Jordan U.... I knew a Jordan England (a guy), but... can you refresh my memory?
Hi! Haha--I figured you wouldn't remember me. I was actually home-schooled until high school, so we weren't in school together. But our parents were friends, and we might have gone to the same church. My older brother, John U., might have been in school the same time as you. My family is very good friends with the Wedgeworths and Englands. I just remember thinking you were my first crush. Is that weird? I figure it's ok to confess, now that I'm very happily married. :) I hope all is well with you!Haha, how cool is that? I always wondered if I was the first crush for anyone else, and now I know! 16 years after the fact, but it's all good. Woo! Just thought I'd share.
PS. Anyone else excited about the DMB concert this weekend at Piedmont Park?!
