My new season
Well, the new season of TV shows started last month, and here are my thoughts about the buzz:
1. Journeyman: I originally thought this was going to be an updated version of Quantum Leap, and it is... only not as cool. In QL, you were stuck in a specific time-period until you accomplished a specific task. In JM, you are stuck in multiple different time-periods until you accomplish multiple different tasks. QL was cool because you could be a pregnant woman, or a famous rock-star... in JM, you can only help a pregnant woman or a not-so-famous rock-star. Bleh.
-- Conclusion? The show is slow and hard to understand at first. There is no clear visual effect to when the JM jumps between time-periods. I watched 2 episodes, and probably won't watch anymore unless I'm really bored.
2. Bionic Woman: I like this show not because of the main actress, who is not very likable in my opinion, but instead because of the supporting actors. It has Starbuck and Chief from BS:G for goodness sake! Excluding the premier, it seems as if each episode has some sort of crisis that only the BW can solve. Throw in a little family drama, and there ya go.
-- Conclusion? Not too impressed with the show as a whole, although the concept is quite cool. I'll probably watch one or two more episodes, then call it quits.
3. Dexter: This Showtime show is in it's second season, so it's not exactly new, but it's new to me. I had never seen an episode, and maybe only heard about the show in passing... but then one day last week, the entirety of season 1 appears on iTunes. I thought the premise was interesting... a cop was solved crimes by day, and committed them at night (but he only killed people who deserved it). The acting is pretty good, and I like the voice-overs. Kind of gives you some insight into what the serial killer is really thinking. I suppose the question everyone's asking is... will Dexter ever get caught?
-- Conclusion? I find myself rooting for Dexter not to get caught, and I definitely plan on watching the rest of season 2 as it's released each week.
Old Favorites:
- The Office: The fourth season is as good and FUNNY as ever.
- Smallville: We're getting closer and closer to the start of the Superman series. I don't care if Lois Lane didn't go to HS with Clark Kent or not, I still like the show and the character dynamics.
- LOST/24/Scrubs: These shows have been on for years, so they are tried and true. The only thing in common is that they are all starting AFTER the new year (except Scrubs, which airs on Oct 25th). LOST has two more seasons, Scrubs is in it's last season, and 24 will go on for as long as Jack Bauer can stay out of jail. Hire a limo driver Jack, sheesh!
Random Link of the Blog: Just So Stories, by Rudyard Kipling - featuring popular stories such as, How the Alphabet was Made and The Sing-Song of Old Man Kangaroo! Seriously, the artwork is pretty cool in some of the stories, plus there's a big printable version too! Check it out.
