My bullet time

I'm excited. Max Payne comes out in theaters this Friday, and I have high-hopes... especially after reading that the director made sure "bullet-time" was in the film.

One of the coolest parts of the original PC game was the the bullet-time. Sure, they copied it from the Matrix, but who wouldn't?

One thing I've always wondered though... is Max Payne slowing time to dodge the bullets, or is he simply moving really fast like Neo or Superman? It's probably the latter, but I think the first would be more plausible.

Think about it. You're engaging bullet-time by moving extremely fast. Have you ever tried to run around corners at full speed? Or keep control of a car racing at 300 MPH from the cops? I imagine it's quite difficult, especially if there are objects in the way (like other cars).

You see a bullet being fired in your general direction, and you quickly move out of the way... but what if you move too fast or aren't paying attention, and run into another bullet instead, or a low hanging lamp? Not only do you have to MOVE fast, you have to THINK fast, and be aware of your surroundings.

Wouldn't it be much easier just to slow time and move around normally? I mean, the point of bullet-time is to make sure you have enough time to make the RIGHT decision. Maybe that's why Max Payne is such a bad-ass. He has time to dodge the bullet AND heat up a hot-pocket for dinner.

That's my kind of hero.

My last week

This is my last week at Rubicon... and to be frank, I'm kind of happy to be moving onward and upward.

Right now the ceiling lights are off because the developers like working in the dark; I suppose it reminds them of Mom's basement.

There is a guy around the corner who is POUNDING on his keyboard. Calm down man, you don't need to apply 2-tons of force to press the Enter key.

And there's singing. Soft singing in a language I don't speak. And VP's wonder why everyone brings in a nice set of headphones to listen to music during work.

Anyhoo... the Yahoo! interview went well. I spoke to 4 different people over 2-hours... learned all about the company, what the interviewers thought of the Microsoft deal, yadda yadda. I even wore my suit, so cross your fingers and let's hope an offer comes through!

In other news: I am throwing my annual Haunted Halloween Party this year, on the 25th of October. If you have not yet received an invite, let me know and I'll give you all the details.

My 4-in-a-row win

I love messing with people when I play on TurnPlay.

me (3): Howdy.
Kattyjen (3): hows it going
me (3): Well
me (3): Haven't seen ya around these parts before.
Kattyjen (5): you mean on this site?
me (5): Headin' out to Cali for some Gold?
Kattyjen (7): what
me (7): Good game, Missy.
me (7): See ya around!
See, I distracted her w/ my wild west talk, and by turn 7 I had already defeated her!

See?
