My elf

Once upon a time I met an elf. She had long curls of flowing brown hair and her eyes twinkled like constellations in the night sky. How did I know she was an elf? Well, aside from the pointy ears, she spoke to me in her native elvish tongue the night we met. I do not recollect exactly what she said, but it reminded me a sparrow singing its' song in the stillness of the morning.

J'ai été enchanté.

For several weeks we traveled the lands together. We crossed the great Fifth bridge and traveled into the valley below where swarms of yellow jackets worked together in unison and harmony. It was the most beautiful background noise imaginable, all that humming and buzzing. We cheered whenever they accomplished something grand... 63 times we cheered to be exact. But who's counting?

Nous avons tenu les mains et sourit.

Then danger arose! Reports flowed in of an ancient dragon ravaging the villages in the mid-country. We had to do something, immediately! I could not sit idly by, because if mid-country fell, my elf's life would be in peril. We met many strange characters on our quest to slay the dragon, including a group of adventurers from Castle Sunnydale, a trio of men with brass gears strapped to their head, and... oh, the list goes on and on. It took us nearly 15 hours to slay the green dragon, but in the end we were victorious.

Avec un coeur vaillant, rien d'impossible.

We celebrated our glorious accomplishment with a feast of only the finest foods: pomegranate berries, chicken curries, mangoes and papayas. The musicians played sweet music and sang haunting lullabies. There was laughter all around and our merriment was a sight to behold indeed.

On ne vit qu'une fois.

I will never forget the last evening I saw my elf. The air was cool and the leaves were just starting to turn into shades of gold. She looked me in the eyes and told me she had to go away... far away across the sea. She was being called home, to where she was needed the most. I was confused. Could I come with you, I asked? She took my hand in hers, slowly shook her head, and comforted my sorrow. It was a bittersweet farewell, but deep in my heart, I knew it had to be so.

Régulièrement. Passionnément. Continuellement. Je prierai pour tu.
